I can assess my reading ability using a short text (RI 10). I can synthesize ideas from multiple texts and explain how the texts may convey different perspectives on a common theme or idea in my writing (RI/RL 2).
Entry Task:
As you come into class, grab your binder and prepare to play a round of Blooket to study our vocabulary list.
What’s Going On:
Today we will take our reading assessment for the unit. Complete this through CommonLit using the link posted in Google Classroom. Take your time working through the Guiding Questions as you read to check your understanding, and then be sure to click the Begin Assessment button to complete the reading test.
Once you are done with the reading assessment, the remaining time is yours to continue your writing assessment. You will be polishing your work by typing it in the posted Google Classroom assignment. Today’s focus should be on finalizing your essay. You will have a bit more work time tomorrow, if needed, after our vocabulary check-in.
Exit Task:
Review your writing using the rubric and decide what you need to focus on tomorrow to finalize your essay. Then spend some time cleaning up around you.
