19 January: Getting to Theme

Objective:

I can determine a complete and complex theme of a text and analyze its development over the course of the text (RL 2).

Entry Task:

As you come into class, get ready to play a Blooket to review the words from our third vocabulary quiz to study for our upcoming final.

What’s Going On:

Today we will discuss your unit final project: the Station Eleven Theme Timeline. Together, we will go over the project requirements, and you will have time to decide if you will be working with one other person or completing the project solo.

We work on writing theme statements for Station Eleven, which is your first requirement on your timeline. We have discussed themes all throughout this course; use this slideshow and handout to review the details and follow the steps to write your own theme statement for the novel.

Exit Task:

Turn your theme statements in for feedback. These will be returned to you with feedback to improve them before you add them to your final timeline.
